back in the buff
hey everyone. just got back from the asian invasion (or should that be invAsian) tour 2006.
i've been in transit for 24 hours or so and tired as heck... fun stuff eh? started off with a 3-4 hour flight @ 9am from taipei to tokyo, 3 hour layover, 13 hours from tokyo to new york, 3 hour layover, 2.5 hour flight from new york to buffalo. there was some big storm downstate so we had to wait on the runway for awhile, and our flight plan was rerouted over pennsylvania instead. i didn't mind so much, jetblue had oln on their tv, so i (along with it seemed like everyone else on the plane) could catch the game. it was funny, the flight attendant announced on the plane after we boarded that they didn't have oln, and everyone was all disappointed, but then someone found that they did and everyone started cheering. the game went into overtime right as we exited the plane. while i was claiming my luggage, someone had a radio or something in the baggage area, and a couple yells came out from the far end of the room followed by some clapping... that's when i figured we'd scored and won!! so we're forcing game 7. it's still possible i'll get to see my first cup game.
so anyways... i'm tired. thanks for checking in. post a link to pics tomorrow. here's one to hold your attention for the moment. it's taken from the hong kong convention center, looking west on hong kong island. the tallest building on the right is the ifc. just a note... there is more skyline to see east of this pic.

www.diserio.com/top15-skylines.htmlfinished up my last paper this morning @ around 7am. drove to school, handed that in, went to work, then a friend's commencement thing, and taking a break from laundry, packing, and organizing like mad right now. I AM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH THE 2006-2006 SCHOOL YEAR!!! praise the lord! it's been a battle with my time management skills (i have none because i will forever be a slacker) all year.
anywho... not much to say... just extreme happiness that things will be a little calmer for awhile. just have research, work, and one class this summer. good news came out today... the thursday in the square schedule was released today. some highlights from this free concert series downtown which i will definitely have to get to...
june 29th 54-40
august 3rd violent femmes
august 24th SLOAN!!!! <<<<<<<-------!!!!!!!!!! yah... they're only one of my top 2 favourite bands.
i would've liked to get to big bad voodoo daddy... it's on may 25th... but i'll still be overseas @ that time.
so... time for more packing.
don't know if i'll have time to unload some pics while i'm away. if not... take care. see you all in june! i'll wish for warm weather for everyone so you all will get a chance to go outside and play.
let's go sabres!!

put away the brooms
eh... no sweep tonight. we didn't come to play in the 1st period, ottawa took advantage and scored first. that first goal was so important tonight... if we would've gotten it, i think that might have been the end of the sens. instead we head back to ottawa saturday and hopefully will close out the series. if not... i'll be ebaying my tix to game 6, and hopefully make some more $$ to pay for my trip and credit card bills.
i have this one last paper to write for tomorrow... and i'm slacking... really really... seriously slacking. it's not even a long one either... instead... i'm blogging... wtf is wrong with me?
well... maybe i should stare at my mostly empty word document some more.
here are some vids from last nights game... it was pretty crazy outside after the game. i had on my blue and gold jersey (which was one of the best presents anyone has ever given me... courtesy of stocham a couple of years ago for my bday).
-
woo hoo-
let's go buffalohave a great friday... i'd like to post once more before i take off for nyc and asia saturday.
*sweep sweep sweep*
dudes... yesterday's game was off the hook, one of the most exciting i've been to. the arena was LOUD, and people were pumped.
so this will be a short post... maybe i'll get some media files posted from last night's game up. gotta eat and watch the game.
i'm gonna take off now so i can get the brooms ready =].

sunny days... sweeping the clouds away... on my way to where the air is sweet... can you tell me how to get? how to get to sesame street?
went to hsl to study yesterday afternoon... and took a little walk to clear my head before my exam @ 6 in the eve. here are some pics of ub south campus.

-university presbyterian church which is right across the campus... i've always liked the look of the red brick church. it matches well with the 2 or 3 blocks of red brick road that is the start of niagara falls blvd that sprouts off of main street.

-this is the clock tower portion of hayes hall, which houses the school of architecture and planning. the clock still works, and goes off every 15 minutes.

-this used the be the front side of abbot hall (it's now the rear), but i don't think the entrance is used anymore. they expanded the hall, and it now houses the health sciences library (ie. hsl). i think visually this is my most favorite building on south.

-this is the biomedical research building on south... i like the blue windows... and how it looks against the grey/white exterior. you gotta be all super secret and stuff to get in the place... with swipe cards and keypads and all that good stuff.

-thought this looked kind of coolio. there were some rocks/pebbles surrounding some bushes etc... and because the trees were all flowering, some of the petals were blown off or fell and settled in between the rocks... giving some nice color to otherwise boring grey rocks.
then after my exam... i went home... and it was game time.
and the rest is history... sabres lead the series 2-0, and are coming back home for the next 2. we really should have lost the game... but miller was absolutely brilliant in net. stopped 42 out of 43 shots on goal. emery on the otherhand... not so good... stopped 15 out of 17 shots. if emery keeps letting goals in... we'll have this thing wrapped in 4. bring on wednesday... i'm gonna be screaming my head off at the game after my LAST final tomorrow!!! i'm super excited. the arena should be rocking.
get outside and enjoy the nice weather!

weekend update...
The Sabres flew home after the game and will practice in HSBC Arena today and the Amherst Pepsi Center on Sunday. With two off days before Game Two in Ottawa, the Sabres decided going home was their best option.
"I don't know if it benefits you," Ruff said, "but it's easy to do and I think it wouldn't be a good idea to sit there for two days in their atmosphere. I like Canada, but I like Buffalo better."
went to a wedding yesterday @ delaware park... got some pics...

-some event was going on @ by hoyt lake casino... i think it was a race of some sorts

-here's a pic of the albright-knox art gallery's back side (the non elmwood ave side)

-here's david

-some pics of hoyt lake

-the green tops of the h.h. richardson towers in the distance... they are part of the old decommisioned buffalo psychiatric center... very creepy @ night.
dude... the weather's been so great for something like 1.5 weeks now... unfortunately i still have 2 more exams, and a paper before i can really enjoy it without worries.
everyone have a good one!
